In an exciting development for the halal industry and Islamic finance, a significant bilateral meeting took place during the Makkah Halal Forum 2025. The First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Davron Kurbanov, met with Yousef Khalawi, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), to discuss collaborative opportunities.

The dialogue centered on enhancing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ICCD, with a particular focus on strengthening trade and economic relationships with Islamic nations. Both parties recognized the importance of leveraging the Chamber’s resources to foster deeper collaboration.

Yousef Khalawi shared insights into the ICCD’s ongoing initiatives, highlighting key projects and strategic plans designed to bolster economic partnerships among member countries. In response, the Uzbek delegation showcased Uzbekistan’s investment potential, export capabilities, and the ongoing reforms aimed at creating a more business-friendly environment.

The discussions also delved into avenues for boosting bilateral trade, advancing the halal sector, and expanding cooperation in Islamic finance.

As a result of these fruitful negotiations, both parties agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation, organize joint business forums and trade missions, and implement programs for knowledge exchange and professional development. This partnership marks a promising step forward in enhancing Uzbekistan’s role in the global halal market and Islamic finance landscape.
