Depok, Indonesia –<\/strong>\u00a0The Saudi Arabian government’s latest policy legalizing independent Umrah opens new opportunities for Muslims worldwide, including Indonesia, to organize their pilgrimage more flexibly. No longer bound to a single travel package, pilgrims can now choose their own airlines, hotels, and arrange worship schedules without group restrictions. However, this freedom demands much more thorough planning. Without a travel agent, pilgrims must understand visa procedures, transportation, accommodation, and mandatory applications during worship.<\/p>\n To make your journey more comfortable and prevent getting lost in the process, here’s an independent Umrah guide compiled from field experience and latest practices in Saudi Arabia. Please excuse any shortcomings as this is based on the author’s personal experience.<\/p>\n Although called “independent,” visas still cannot be self-issued.<\/p>\n Saudi Arabia requires visas to be submitted through official visa agents.<\/p>\n Price range: Rp3\u20135 million, varies depending on:<\/p>\n Typically, visas include:<\/p>\n Every Indonesian pilgrim MUST be registered in Siskopatuh (Computerized Integrated Management System for Umrah and Hajj).<\/p>\n Benefits:<\/p>\n If you use an agent to create a visa, this registration is done automatically.<\/p>\n Saudi Arabia requires two vaccines:<\/p>\n Mandatory for all pilgrims. Valid for 2\u20133 years. Given at:<\/p>\n Cost: Rp300\u2013600 thousand depending on facility.<\/p>\n Since 2023, Indonesia is among countries required to provide polio vaccines for Umrah pilgrims.<\/p>\n Cost: Rp150\u2013250 thousand. Valid for 1 year.<\/p>\n Tips:<\/strong> Get vaccinated at least 2 weeks before departure so it doesn’t disturb your physical condition approaching Umrah.<\/p>\n Round-trip ticket prices Indonesia\u2013Saudi Arabia are highly volatile.<\/p>\n Estimated price Rp20\u201340 million depending on:<\/p>\n Hotel prices in Makkah and Madinah heavily depend on distance to the mosque:<\/p>\n Nearest transportation:<\/p>\n Cheaper than Makkah.<\/p>\n Tips:<\/strong> To save money, choose hotels 700\u20131000 meters away but with good reviews.<\/p>\n Applications:<\/p>\n Estimate:<\/p>\n Advantages:<\/p>\n NOTES!<\/strong><\/p>\n – Reserved Taxi: Fixed price, ideal for families\/groups, direct hotel pick-up and drop-off, free to bring lots of luggage.<\/p>\n – Bus: Cheapest, but longer journey. Free 1 suitcase max 25 kg.<\/p>\n – High-Speed Train: Fastest, higher price, only allowed to bring 1 small suitcase + 1 bag. Extra luggage charged and process is quite complicated.<\/p>\n Food prices in Saudi Arabia are relatively affordable:<\/p>\n Budget recommendations:<\/p>\n Safe & fast transportation.<\/p>\n For booking high-speed trains. Passport registration required.<\/p>\n Application for All Worship Activities:<\/p>\n IMPORTANT:<\/strong> Rawdah access only possible through Nusuk.<\/p>\n Umrah requires high physical activity:<\/p>\n Preparation:<\/p>\n Independent Umrah has weaknesses: You must protect yourself!<\/p>\n Avoid:<\/p>\n Safety Tips:<\/p>\n With thorough preparation, independent Umrah can be a more flexible, economical, and personal experience.
