The initiative involves three major players: Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Bank Mandiri, and BNI, all of which have expressed readiness to pursue this regional expansion.<\/p>\n<p>The banking expansion responds to the growing Indonesian diaspora in these countries. &#8220;We&#8217;re building essential infrastructure to serve our citizens abroad,&#8221; Matta explained during an address at Islamic educational institutions in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond serving expatriate communities, the strategy aims to forge new commercial pathways connecting Indonesia with Middle Eastern markets and beyond. Recent diplomatic engagements have sparked interest from countries including India and Algeria, with both nations extending invitations for further business discussions.<\/p>\n<p>To support these economic objectives, Indonesia&#8217;s Foreign Ministry has created a dedicated directorate-general focused exclusively on economic affairs. Additionally, the ministry plans to establish desks in all Indonesian provinces, enabling better identification of regional business opportunities for international partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>Matta contextualized the initiative within broader geopolitical shifts, noting significant instability in Europe and escalating economic tensions between the United States and China.
