National Coordination to Strengthen Industry Reform<\/b><\/h2>\n

PM Shehbaz underscored that full collaboration between federal ministries and provincial governments is essential to expand Pakistan\u2019s presence in Muslim markets as well as the wider global halal sector. He emphasised the importance of improving cold storage capacity, production facilities, and related infrastructure to support sustainable industry growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Focus on International Standards and Global Certification<\/b><\/h2>\n

The prime minister directed authorities to align livestock production with international quality standards to enhance Pakistan\u2019s standing in export markets. The government will also facilitate international certification for slaughterhouses and support bilateral registration processes to unlock new trade destinations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Disease-Free Supply Chains and Cost Efficiency<\/b><\/h2>\n

PM Shehbaz highlighted the urgency of developing specialised centres across the country to improve nutritional value and ensure disease-free halal meat supply. He called for cost-effective export models built on global best practices to strengthen Pakistan\u2019s competitive advantage, especially within regional markets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Major Export Potential Despite High Domestic Output<\/b><\/h2>\n

Officials reported that Pakistan currently produces 6 million metric tons of halal meat annually. After meeting domestic consumption, a significant surplus remains available for export. Ongoing initiatives aim to improve product packaging and enhance production capacity to meet international demand.<\/span><\/p>\n

Government Leadership and Multi-Stakeholder Engagement<\/b><\/h2>\n

The meeting was also attended by senior government leaders, including the Ministers for Commerce, National Food Security, and Economic Affairs, alongside advisors and key industry representatives. The session reinforced the government\u2019s commitment to supporting the sector\u2019s modernisation and long-term export growth.<\/span><\/p>\n
