Friday is one of the days which has many virtues in islam, it is known for the day of Jumu’ah (Friday) Prayer where Muslims gather to hold a prayer together and listen to the khutbah(Sermon). Beyond that, Friday puts a glorious time to make a supplication that will be answered by Allah. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) even mentioned in an authentic hadith Collected in Abu Dawud,

“On Friday there are twelve hours (during the day), between these times there is a time when no Muslim servant asks Allah for anything but He will grant his request, therefore, look for Him at the end of time after Asr”.

The hadith noted that It is highly recommended to make a supplication to Allah after the Asr prayer on Friday as it is mentioned by the Prophet himself.

Imam Ahmad explained that the answered time for supplication is after the Asr Prayer, He said “Most of the hadiths regarding the time when prayers are expected to be answered are after Asr and after the sun has shifted (Friday prayer time).”

Although there are a lot of debates between the islamic scholars regarding the validity of the specified time for answered prayer, it is encouraged to seek for supplication and forgiveness from Allah within the whole Friday, as it is stated by Imam Nawawi,

“It is highly recommended to increase your prayers throughout Friday, from dawn to sunset. This is to ensure that your prayers are answered. Scholars differ regarding the time when prayers are answered on Friday. One opinion states that the time is between dawn on Friday and sunrise. Another opinion states that the time is after sunrise. Another opinion states that the time is after the sun sets westward. Another opinion states that the time is after Asr. There are still other opinions.”

In addressing this concern, it is important to every muslim asking for supplications and seeking for forgiveness to Allah to reach the virtues of answered prayers, May Allah accept our supplication and grant us forgiveness.
