Cambodia Courts Indonesian Visitors Through Eco-Tourism and Muslim-Friendly Services

Green Season Promotion Strategy

Cambodia is actively promoting its Green Season (May to October) to attract Indonesian tourists, highlighting its lush landscapes, cooler weather, and peaceful atmosphere. The country is positioning this typically quieter tourism period as an opportunity for visitors to experience Cambodia’s natural beauty in a more tranquil setting.

Halal Tourism Development

The country is also enhancing its offerings for Muslim travelers by providing halal food and prayer facilities at major tourist sites. To further attract Muslim visitors, Cambodia is improving its Muslim-friendly services, including halal-certified restaurants and prayer rooms in public places.

Capital City Attractions

Phnom Penh, the capital, is becoming a popular spot for Indonesians, offering cultural sites like the Royal Palace, traditional foods such as fish amok, and unique fruits like Kampot durian. The city serves as a gateway for Indonesian tourists to experience authentic Cambodian culture and cuisine.

Bilateral Tourism Cooperation

A key part of this strategy includes collaboration with Indonesia. The two countries have signed an MoU to jointly promote Angkor Wat and Borobudur—two iconic temples—with shared marketing and tourism initiatives. This partnership aims to create synergies between the two nations’ most significant cultural heritage sites.
