Waleem Meat Factory Opens Saudi Arabia’s Largest Meat Processing Facility

| By Food Business MEA

Waleem Meat Factory has inaugurated a major meat processing operation in Buraidah, located in the Al-Qassim region, representing the Kingdom’s biggest and most technologically sophisticated facility of its type, with the capability to produce 60 tons daily.

The opening event featured Prince Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz and Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih, with several agreements signed during the ceremony aimed at scaling up production volumes and enhancing promotional strategies.

The Buraidah plant features mechanized slaughtering operations and distinct processing systems for refrigerated, manufactured, and frozen meat products, marketed under two separate brand names targeting commercial clients and retail customers.

Established in 2020, Waleem Meat Factory integrates contemporary processing methods with rigorous halal compliance to produce meat items that satisfy safety and quality standards, while its distribution network enables complete tracking from livestock origins to final consumers.

Being situated in Al-Qassim, recognized as the Kingdom’s leading agricultural hub, provides advantageous access to high-quality livestock and facilitates nationwide distribution throughout Saudi Arabia.

The operation collaborates with domestic suppliers and employs a comprehensive production approach, maintaining steady oversight of meat product sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution.

For enhanced consumer convenience, Waleem Meat Factory has established partnerships with delivery services such as Keeta and Noon Minutes, providing easy ordering options for customers in Riyadh and Al-Qassim.

Industry Developments

This opening reflects wider developments in Saudi Arabia’s food industry, which has attracted foreign investment in the meat sector.

In the previous year, Brazilian company BRF announced a US$160 million commitment to build a halal-certified beef and poultry processing plant in Jeddah via BRF Arabia Holding Company, formed in collaboration with the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s Halal Products Development Company.

The Jeddah operation is scheduled to commence production by mid-2026, with an annual output of 40,000 tons focused mainly on domestic Saudi consumption, though designed with capacity for eventual regional expansion.

The facility’s infrastructure includes provisions for growth, with the potential to double output based on market requirements, and will represent BRF’s third production site in Saudi Arabia and seventh throughout the Middle Eastern region.

The initiative is anticipated to create more than 500 direct employment opportunities in Jeddah and surrounding communities, with initial production depending on Brazilian-sourced raw materials and funding distributed between US$63 million in 2025 and US$98 million in 2026.
