Kawaguchiko, Japan – The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA®) recently hosted its prestigious Banquet & Awards Night, bringing together Halal industry leaders from around the world to recognize outstanding achievements in the field. The celebration took place in the Grand Ballroom of Chicago’s Hyatt Regency O’Hare on April 13, 2025.

The elegant gathering served as a prelude to the 22nd International Halal Food Conference and featured dignitaries, corporate executives, academics, and certification specialists collaborating to advance Halal standards globally.

Attendees enjoyed a diverse culinary experience featuring vegetarian and seafood options prepared by the hotel’s chefs, alongside authentic Pakistani dishes from local restaurant Ali Nihari. The menu received widespread acclaim for both its authenticity and exceptional quality.

Five companies were honored for their excellence in Halal-certified product development:

  • Kerry received the overall Company of the Year award
  • Abbott was recognized as Company of the Year for Nutritional Ingredients
  • McCormick earned the Company of the Year title for Flavors
  • Darigold was named Company of the Year in the Dairy category
  • McCain took home Company of the Year honors for Retail

In his keynote address, DinarStandard CEO Rafi-uddin Shikoh highlighted the significant market opportunity: “The global Halal market represents 2 billion Muslims worldwide. Nearly 17-20% of global consumption relates to Halal consumer needs. Companies overlooking these markets are missing a substantial opportunity.”

Industry representatives emphasized the event’s significance. Laura LaCourse, Director of Flavor Regulatory, praised IFANCA’s ability to unite industry professionals, international dignitaries, and community members. Meanwhile, Mary Anne Jackson, President and Founder of My Own Meals, Inc., described the close relationship between her organization and IFANCA, noting the importance of recognition for contributions to the Halal community.

The successful event underscored IFANCA’s dedication to promoting excellence in Halal certification, product innovation, and international collaboration.
