JAKARTA – Saudi Arabia’s national shipping carrier, Bahri, has become a participant in the WAVE initiative, a collaborative action platform working toward ocean regeneration within one generation across Saudi Arabian waters.

Founded by HRH Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United States, and launched in October 2023, the initiative centers on core principles including marine ecosystem preservation, pollution reduction, and the promotion of sustainable ocean practices—objectives that complement Bahri’s environmental, social, and governance strategy and dedication to responsible maritime development.

Supporting Vision 2030 and Marine Conservation Goals

Through its involvement in WAVE, Bahri emphasizes its position as a leader in sustainable shipping operations and a significant contributor to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 development framework.

The collaboration between Bahri and WAVE demonstrates alignment with the Saudi Green Initiative, particularly its “30×30” objective to safeguard 30 percent of the Kingdom’s marine and land areas by 2030.

HRH Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud expressed her pride in advancing the WAVE initiative’s mission to foster a more responsible and internationally coordinated strategy for restoring ocean health, noting that oceans serve as the cornerstone of ecological balance and economic strength globally while remaining vital for humanity’s future.

Bahri will contribute to actualizing ocean regeneration objectives through innovation, partnership, and responsible maritime operations. This approach reinforces the company’s progressive stance on logistics and commerce, incorporating digital transformation, cleaner operational methods, and sustainability-focused solutions to enhance global supply networks.
