| By News of Bahrain

New National Certification System Targets Global Competitiveness

Bahrain is moving to advance its halal industry and expand export influence, introducing a national halal certification system designed to elevate product standards and strengthen international credibility. Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak emphasized that the initiative reflects the Kingdom’s growing commitment to positioning Bahrain as a competitive player in the global halal market.

Government Endorsement Drives Sector Confidence

The minister praised the decision led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, noting that the new halal policy marks a strategic economic milestone. By establishing a Bahraini halal certification mark, the decision reinforces market trust and supports long-term growth goals across food and non-food segments.

Quality Assurance and Compliance at the Core

Under the enhanced regulatory framework, halal-certified products will undergo regular inspections and compliance checks to ensure full adherence to national standards. This approach aims to strengthen product quality throughout the production and distribution chain, offering consumers greater assurance and boosting Bahrain’s reputation in export markets.

Empowering Local Producers with “Bahraini Halal” Label

The new certification will allow Bahraini factories to adopt the “Bahraini Halal” label, increasing visibility and competitiveness in international markets. The initiative encourages producers to pursue higher standards, innovate product offerings, and enhance export readiness—especially as global demand for halal products accelerates.

Building a Regional Hub for Halal Exports

Al Mubarak highlighted Bahrain’s ambition to become a regional and global halal hub, leveraging the certification system to attract new markets, investors, and trade partnerships. Collaboration among government bodies, including the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry—will play a key role in expanding sector capabilities.

Strengthening Bahrain’s Halal Market Outlook

Overall, the policy is expected to stimulate halal industry growth, sharpen regulatory oversight, and enhance Bahrain’s presence in the fast-growing global halal economy. With rising global demand and strong government support, the Kingdom is positioning itself for broader commercial opportunity and sustainable expansion.
