Ruhfar Magazine Debuts to Capture $225 Billion Halal Travel Industry

JAKARTA – A groundbreaking publication has entered the halal travel sector, positioning itself to serve an industry expected to reach $225 billion in value by 2028.

Ruhfar Magazine made its official debut from Malaysia’s capital, addressing a significant gap in travel media for Muslim women—a group that drives more than 70% of travel decisions yet receives limited dedicated industry attention.

Multimedia Platform for Modern Muslim Travelers

Described as a multimedia sanctuary, Ruhfar operates within the Muslim Solo Travel movement while concentrating on what it calls the “Inner State” of contemporary Muslim female travelers.

The magazine’s introduction strategically aligns with Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, creating a pivotal moment for the worldwide halal travel sector.

Three Distinctive Editorial Approaches

The publication presents three core perspectives designed for its target audience.

First, it recognizes the economic influence of Muslim women, who are transitioning beyond standard “halal-friendly” accommodations toward more purposeful and significant travel experiences—what the magazine terms “Why-cations.”

Second, Ruhfar advocates for a revival of analog media, positioning the magazine as a physical instrument for deliberate exploration. The publication encourages readers to interact with printed pages and embrace journaling practices.

Third, the debut issue examines “Homecoming” as its central theme, delving into spiritual journeys and the notion of belonging.

Intentional Discovery Over Digital Performance

Founder and Editor-in-Chief Farihah Awgku Fuaad articulated the magazine’s mission to transform travel narratives for Muslim women.

“We explore how intentional discovery—through physical pages and journalling—helps travellers prioritise presence over performance,” she explained.

Reshaping Travel Narratives

As Ruhfar launches this initiative, the publication aspires to transform how Muslim women are represented in the travel industry, providing them with a dedicated platform to discover and articulate their distinctive travel journeys.

The magazine’s emergence highlights the growing recognition of Muslim women as a powerful consumer segment in global tourism, with spending patterns that reflect both religious values and contemporary lifestyle aspirations.

By combining traditional print media with modern travel philosophy, Ruhfar seeks to establish itself as an essential resource for Muslim women seeking meaningful travel experiences that align with their faith and personal growth objectives.
