HalalBooking Secures $5 Million Investment to Drive Global Halal-Friendly Travel Growth

A Major Boost for Halal Travel Innovation

HalalBooking, one of the world’s leading platforms for halal-friendly travel, has received a major $5 million non-dilutive investment from Dutch investment firm Capital Mills. The funding—$3 million finalized in September and another $2 million to be disbursed over the next year—marks a key milestone in the company’s growth strategy. It aims to expand HalalBooking’s global reach, scale its technology, and solidify its leadership in the fast-growing halal tourism market.

The announcement was made during the International Antalya Tourism Fair (ATF25 Türkiye) on October 23, shortly after the company reported a record-breaking third quarter with $28.8 million in sales, up 25% from the previous year. HalalBooking forecasts $75 million in total sales for 2024, underscoring the rising global demand for Muslim-friendly travel.

Scaling a Vision: From Niche to Global Mainstream

Founded in 2014, HalalBooking was built to meet the needs of Muslim travelers seeking hotels and villas aligned with Islamic values. Its listings—spanning over 500,000 properties across 100 countries—include halal-certified food options, alcohol-free environments, women-only facilities, and modest swimwear policies.

CEO Elnur Seyidli described the investment as a new chapter for the company, noting that Capital Mills’ support will help accelerate expansion in Europe, the Middle East, and other key regions. In 2025 alone, HalalBooking served more than 100,000 customers and helped book over 16,000 hotels, reflecting growing loyalty among its users.

The Growing Global Market for Halal Travel

The State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2024/25 revealed that Muslim-friendly travel spending hit $216.9 billion in 2023, with projections to reach $384.1 billion by 2028. This growth has positioned halal tourism as one of the most lucrative sectors in global hospitality.

Recognizing this potential, Capital Mills praised HalalBooking’s strong technological foundation, clear business model, and loyal customer base. Managing Partner Barry de Kock expressed enthusiasm about supporting the company’s next phase of expansion, describing HalalBooking as a market leader redefining inclusive travel.

Strengthening Market Position

By September 2025, HalalBooking reported $70 million in gross booking volume for the year, supported by a network of 1.9 million Loyalty Club members across 110 countries and more than 3,000 affiliate partners. These numbers highlight its success in connecting faith-conscious travelers with personalized accommodation experiences.

Capital Mills’ investment will enable the company to enhance its booking technology and expand its operational capacity—laying the groundwork for a larger $20–30 million equity funding round in 2026.

Looking Ahead: Innovation and Expansion

HalalBooking’s short-term strategy focuses on technological improvements that will offer even more customized travel options for Muslim travelers, strengthening its competitive advantage in the halal tourism market.

CEO Seyidli reaffirmed the company’s mission: “We want to make halal-friendly travel accessible to everyone.” With Capital Mills’ financial backing, HalalBooking is positioned to lead the global transformation of the halal travel industry—bringing ethical, inclusive, and tailored travel experiences to Muslim travelers worldwide.
