The global Halal and Muslim-friendly tourism sector is set for significant growth, with estimates suggesting its value will soar to $410.9 billion by 2032, an increase from $256.5 billion in 2023.

As demand rises, popular travel destinations are introducing various strategies to attract Muslim travelers and address their specific needs.

Crescent Rating reports that international Muslim tourist arrivals reached 80 million in the first half of 2024, with expectations that this figure will grow to 230 million by 2028.

This upward trajectory is consistent with the overall expansion of the Islamic Halal economy, which includes tourism, investments, and other industries. Analysts predict that the Halal economy will reach $7.7 trillion by 2024, more than doubling its valuation of $3.2 trillion in 2015.

The term Halal, meaning “permitted” in Arabic, encompasses more than just food; it also refers to travel experiences that align with Islamic values. Halal tourism includes services such as Halal dining options, prayer facilities, gender-segregated amenities, and accommodations that do not serve alcohol or allow gambling.
