BSI Launches Sharia KUR Program to Empower Indonesian MSMEs

JAKARTA – Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) continues to strengthen its commitment to empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through a sharia-based People’s Business Credit (KUR) program. This initiative is expected to drive inclusive and sustainable grassroots economic growth throughout Indonesia.

During a press conference held at the RRI Palembang Hall on Wednesday (22/10/2025), Imam Syarifudin, Deputy of Retail Financing Region 3 Palembang, emphasized that BSI’s move aligns with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita vision regarding people’s economic empowerment.

MSMEs: The Backbone of the National Economy

Referring to data from the ASEAN Investment Report, Indonesia has nearly 65 million MSME units that absorb 114 million workers and make significant contributions to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“Despite their vital role, MSME players still face various obstacles such as difficulty accessing capital, low business legality levels, and limited human resources,” said Imam.

Halal Financing Solutions Without Collateral

BSI offers comprehensive solutions through a Sharia KUR scheme that has become a special attraction for business players. This program provides micro-financing without collateral using a sharia-compliant system.

“The main advantage of BSI’s KUR is halal loans that can be easily accessed through the Salam Digital platform,” Imam emphasized.

MSME players who demonstrate good performance also have the opportunity to upgrade and obtain larger financing limits.

Integrated Assistance for MSMEs

Beyond providing financing access, BSI also presents mentoring programs and establishes fostered villages in collaboration with universities. This integrated approach is targeted to reach MSMEs even in remote areas of Indonesia.

With this comprehensive support, BSI is optimistic it can strengthen MSMEs’ position as a resilient and sustainable foundation of the national economy.
