Snack Producer Supports Halal Certification Program Through Participation in Jogja Halal Market

JAKARTA — ChompChomp Marshmallow, a snack manufacturer, has joined the Jogja Halal Market 2025 event organized by the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) in Yogyakarta on Sunday (October 26). This participation demonstrates business sector support for government initiatives to accelerate halal certification, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

ChompChomp Marshmallow Marketing Representative, Verina Bellini, explained that their involvement represents a collaborative effort to promote public awareness regarding the importance of halal products.

“This reflects our commitment to supporting BPJPH in raising awareness about the significance of halal certification, especially for micro and small businesses as demonstrated here in Yogyakarta,” she stated.

Verina also expressed appreciation for government measures to expand halal certification implementation.

“We commend BPJPH’s consistent efforts in conducting outreach and education for business operators,” she added.

Industry Compliance and Verification Standards

Previously, marshmallow products were classified within a food category requiring rigorous raw material verification processes, given that similar products in the marketplace have been associated with concerns about animal gelatin content from unclear sources.

Addressing these concerns, ChompChomp emphasized that all products marketed in Indonesia contain no prohibited ingredients and are currently undergoing halal certification procedures in accordance with BPJPH regulations.

In a separate statement, BPJPH Secretary General Muhammad Aqil Irham stressed that halal certification serves as a crucial instrument for expanding local product markets and enhancing national industry competitiveness.

“Halal has now become part of global lifestyle trends and quality standards that increase economic value. Beginning October 2026, mandatory halal certification requirements will be implemented,” Aqil explained.

Community Engagement and Market Development

The Jogja Halal Market 2025 program forms part of the Halal 20 roadshow series, encouraging MSME operators to utilize the Free Halal Certification (SEHATI) program.

The event received enthusiastic public response. Several visitors expressed satisfaction with the availability of halal-certified products displayed at the venue. Nanda, a student at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN) Yogyakarta, recognized the importance of such activities in raising consumer awareness.

“As consumers, we feel more confident about products that have halal guarantees,” she remarked.

Building National Halal Ecosystem

Business participation from companies like ChompChomp is expected to strengthen synergy between the industrial sector and government in developing a national halal ecosystem. This effort aligns with the vision of establishing Indonesia as a global halal industry center.

The initiative represents a significant step toward comprehensive halal certification coverage across Indonesia’s diverse food industry, ensuring consumer protection while supporting business growth and international market access for Indonesian products.
