This innovative “Baggage-Free Passenger” initiative was officially presented at the Hajj Conference & Exhibition 2025 in Jeddah last week.

A Revolutionary Concept in Pilgrim Services

MATARAT Holding showcased this service under the ambitious theme “From Makkah to the World,” immediately capturing the attention of conference attendees who were curious about how pilgrims could travel without luggage while maintaining security and convenience.

The concept is straightforward yet transformative: worshippers can head to the airport completely hands-free, without dragging a single suitcase behind them.

From Trial Phase to Full Implementation

This program builds on successful pilot testing conducted during the 1444 Hijri pilgrimage season at two major aviation hubs: King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. The trial phase yielded impressive results, with over 680,000 pilgrims experiencing hassle-free travel without managing their luggage.

Following this success, the service is now available to all pilgrims, offering an unprecedented level of comfort and ease during their spiritual journey.

How the Service Works

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), in partnership with MATARAT Holding, operates this integrated logistics system that features:

• Direct pickup: Luggage is collected straight from pilgrims’ accommodations
• Remote check-in: The entire check-in process is completed without visiting airport counters
• Seamless delivery: Bags are transported and processed independently of passengers

This streamlined approach eliminates the physical burden of transporting luggage through busy airports and hotels, allowing pilgrims to focus entirely on their worship and spiritual experience.
