Halal Trade SME Education Health Focus

Pakistan and Indonesia have signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation during Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s official visit to Islamabad. The accords focus on halal trade development, small and medium enterprises, higher education, health, and counter-narcotics collaboration.

The signing ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s House after bilateral and delegation-level talks between President Subianto and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Ministers from both sides exchanged pre-signed documents in the presence of the two leaders.

Education Agreements Support Academic Mobility

Under the higher education framework, both countries agreed on the mutual recognition of academic certificates and degrees through a deal between Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission. In addition, an agreement on the Indonesian Aid Scholarships programme was formalized to enhance student and academic exchange.

Economic Cooperation Targets Halal Sector

In trade-related cooperation, Pakistan and Indonesia signed a memorandum covering halal trade promotion and certification. Another agreement addressed SME facilitation and business development, aiming to improve market access and encourage cross-border partnerships between enterprises.

Health Archives and Drug Control Cooperation

The two sides also concluded agreements covering collaboration in public health, archival exchange, and the prevention of illicit drug trafficking. These initiatives are designed to strengthen institutional coordination and support long-term policy cooperation.

Overall, the agreements signal a broad expansion of Pakistan–Indonesia relations as both countries seek deeper economic ties and stronger institutional collaboration.
