Baby Care Industry Prepares for Indonesia’s 2026 Mandatory Halal Certification

JAKARTA – As Indonesia approaches the October 17, 2026 deadline for mandatory halal certification, industries across the board are preparing for compliance. For many families, a halal label is more than a religious marker—it is a vital symbol of trust and transparency from producer to consumer.

Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), has reinforced the firm deadline. “If there is no label at all, this violates the regulation. It will result in a warning, potential revocation, or withdrawal of the product from circulation,” he stated at a recent national coordination meeting. This places significant responsibility on businesses to ensure compliance and provide clear information to the public.

The regulation is particularly critical in the baby care industry, where safety and halal assurance directly impact a family’s peace of mind. Brands in this sector are increasingly prioritizing not only quality and safety but also halal integrity as consumer awareness grows.

One example is the local brand Yunikon, which launched in 2020 with a focus on producing halal-certified baby care products. Developed with Japanese quality standards and manufactured in a facility with over 15 years of experience, the brand emphasizes gentle, hypo-allergenic formulations suitable for sensitive baby skin. Its product range includes baby wipes, 2-in-1 shampoo and body wash, cologne, and body mist.

“Compliance with halal standards is part of our responsibility to consumers, not just an administrative obligation,” said Mario Alvrisky, Brand Marketing Manager of Yunikon. The brand is also supported by sharia-compliant financing from Bank Aladin Syariah, aligning its operations with Islamic principles from production to funding.

As regulations strengthen and the national halal ecosystem grows, compliance and transparent formulation are becoming essential to maintaining public trust. For Indonesia’s baby care industry, the move toward mandatory halal certification is not just a legal requirement—it’s a step toward building a more responsible, trusted, and sustainable market for families nationwide.
