Osaka, Japan – Afghanistan’s business community is preparing to showcase its products at the upcoming XVI International Economic Forum ‘Russia — Islamic World: Kazan’ and the Kazan Halal Expo in Russia, according to recent announcements from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Six-Day Forum to Feature Extensive Programming

The six-day event, scheduled for May 13-18, will serve as a significant platform for economic cooperation between Russia and Islamic nations. The forum will feature 120 sessions with experts from Russian regions, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, and other countries discussing various topics of mutual interest.

Afghan Private Sector Shows Strong Interest

Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi has confirmed Afghanistan’s participation, according to ministry spokesman Abdul Salam Javad Akhundzada. The minister has already engaged with members of the private sector who have expressed enthusiasm about participating in this international trade opportunity.

Russia’s Largest Halal Trading Platform

The Kazan Halal Expo, held alongside the forum, stands as Russia’s largest trading platform for Muslim-oriented products. The expo will display thousands of goods from around the world that comply with Halal standards.

Russian President Emphasizes Importance of Muslim Relations

In a recent statement about the event, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of Russia’s relationships with Muslim countries, noting: “Russia values its traditionally friendly ties with Muslim countries. We highly appreciate their desire to pursue an independent foreign policy and increase their role in international affairs.”

Putin further stressed the mutual commitment to “expanding beneficial cooperation in all areas, from trade and investment to sports and tourism,” and expressed confidence that the forum would be “meaningful and constructive” while promoting “friendship and creative partnership between our countries and peoples.”

The event represents another step in growing economic ties between Afghanistan and Russia, with Afghan businesses eager to explore new markets for their products.
