JAKARTA – Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry, in cooperation with the Indonesian Embassy in Japan, facilitated a business meeting between Indonesian halal industry players and Japanese market stakeholders. The event, titled “Strengthening Halal Industry Ecosystem and Supply Chain Collaboration,” was held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Chiba, Japan, as part of Indonesia’s participation in The 7th Japan International Food & Beverage Expo (JFEX) Winter 2025.
Acting Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika, stated that the meeting carries a strategic mission to broaden Indonesia’s halal industry network within the Japanese market. Indonesia’s abundant natural resources, he noted, serve as a strong foundation for delivering high-quality, safe, and reliable halal products that align with global halal lifestyle trends.
Showcasing Indonesian Halal Products Through Strategic Themes
A total of 13 Indonesian halal food and beverage companies participated in the event, promoting their products under four main themes: From Local Harvest to Global Halal Taste, Halal Coffee, Global Taste, Elevating Moments with Halal Tea & Chocolate, and Snacking the Halal Way.
According to Putu Juli Ardika, these companies reflect the innovation and global readiness of Indonesia’s halal industry. Several have already entered the Japanese market through limited shipments, including PT Inti Gravfarm Indonesia, PT Fruit-Ing Indonesia, PT Monde Mahkota Biskuit, and PT Bukit Sari, highlighting the strong acceptance potential of Indonesian halal products.
Growing Interest from Japanese Partners
The business meeting continued with networking sessions and exploratory discussions on potential cooperation. Japanese companies expressed interest in the quality, diversity, and added value of Indonesian halal products.
These interactions marked a positive starting point for future collaborations, encompassing distribution partnerships, joint product development, and potential investment opportunities.
Halal Economic Diplomacy in Japan
Industry Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Sofyari Rahman, emphasized the importance of halal economic diplomacy in strengthening Indonesia’s presence in Japan. He observed a growing interest among Japanese industry players in Indonesian halal products.
He expressed hope that the meeting would foster broader cooperation, extending beyond trade to include supply chain strengthening and industrial collaboration.
A Strategic Moment for Halal Market Expansion
Indonesia’s participation in JFEX Winter 2025 represents a key strategic opportunity to enhance the visibility of Indonesian halal products in Japan. Through exhibitions and related programs supported by the Ministry of Industry, prospects for cooperation with Japanese partners are expected to expand further in areas such as product development, distribution, and market access.
