Ruhfar Debuts to Tap into the $225 Billion Halal Travel Industry

| By Travel Daily Media

Ruhfar Magazine has officially made its debut in Kuala Lumpur, positioning itself within the fast-growing halal travel sector, which is forecast to reach a value of $225 billion by 2028. The publication is designed to serve Muslim women travelers, a group that shapes more than 70% of travel choices yet is still largely overlooked by the industry.

Positioned as a multimedia platform, Ruhfar aligns with the Muslim Solo Travel movement and places strong emphasis on the inner and emotional experiences of contemporary Muslim women on the move. Its launch also aligns with Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, underlining its relevance to both national tourism goals and the wider global halal travel landscape.

Ruhfar presents its content through three core lenses. First, it underscores the growing economic influence of Muslim women, who are increasingly seeking travel experiences that go beyond standard “halal-friendly” offerings toward more purposeful journeys, referred to as “Why-cations.” Second, the magazine advocates for a revival of print media, encouraging mindful exploration through physical reading, note-taking, and journalling. Third, its first issue centers on the theme of “Homecoming,” examining spirituality, identity, and the meaning of belonging in travel.

Founder and Editor-in-Chief Farihah Awgku Fuaad explains that Ruhfar aims to reframe how Muslim women experience travel. She notes that intentional engagement through print and reflection allows travelers to focus on authenticity and presence rather than outward display.

Through this approach, Ruhfar seeks to redefine the travel narrative for Muslim women, providing a dedicated space for them to reflect on, share, and celebrate their journeys.
