UAE and India Explore Increased Imports of Kazakh Halal Meat
Kazakhstan is moving to strengthen its agricultural trade ties with the United Arab Emirates and India, as discussions progress on expanding exports of Kazakh meat products to both markets.
Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov recently met with Mohidin Hussain Faisal, Director General of Lulu Kazakhstan, and Ayothi Daniel Gunaseelan, Founder and CEO of IGateway Ltd, to discuss opportunities for deeper trade and economic cooperation. The talks focused in particular on the potential supply of Kazakhstan’s livestock products to the UAE and Indian markets.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, representatives from the foreign companies expressed strong interest in importing lamb and other halal-certified meat products from Kazakhstan, provided they meet international veterinary, sanitary, and quality standards. The rapidly expanding consumer base in India was highlighted as a key factor creating new opportunities for increasing exports of domestically produced livestock goods.
Minister Saparov emphasized that Kazakhstan has substantial capacity in livestock farming and is open to expanding export volumes, subject to compliance with veterinary regulations and the ability to maintain consistent and reliable supply chains. He noted that meeting technical requirements would be essential to ensuring long-term cooperation with overseas partners.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue working on practical frameworks to support trade expansion. These include cooperation on veterinary certification, logistics arrangements, and the establishment of direct business links between Kazakh producers and Indian importers.
LuLu Group International, one of the companies involved in the discussions, operates across retail, import-export, and commercial sectors, and manages meat processing facilities in both the UAE and India. Its existing infrastructure positions it as a potential strategic partner for facilitating the entry of Kazakh halal meat products into these markets.
