Indonesia’s Beauty Industry Showcases Growth and Innovation at Major Jakarta Exhibition

JAKARTA – Indonesia’s cosmetics sector continues to demonstrate remarkable expansion, with market analysts projecting the national beauty market will reach USD 9.7 billion in 2025. This impressive growth trajectory, supported by a projected compound annual growth rate of 4.33% through 2030, has positioned Indonesia as a key player in Southeast Asia’s beauty landscape.

The sector’s vitality was on full display at the 15th edition of IndoBeauty Expo 2025, held at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran from August 7-9, 2025. This major international trade show brought together industry stakeholders from across the globe, featuring participation from over 120 companies representing nine countries, including Indonesia, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.

Strategic Platform for Industry Collaboration

According to Daud D. Salim, CEO of organizing company Krista Exhibitions, the expo serves a purpose far beyond simple product promotion. “IndoBeauty Expo functions as a strategic space that connects various stakeholders within a dynamic business ecosystem,” Salim explained, emphasizing the event’s role as a catalyst for innovation and partnership formation.

The exhibition’s significance extends to addressing pressing industry challenges, as highlighted by Solihin Sofian, Chairman of the Indonesian Cosmetics Association (PPAK Indonesia). He acknowledged the sector faces evolving consumer preferences and the upcoming implementation of halal regulations scheduled for 2026.

“This exhibition represents a strategic moment to address these challenges,” Sofian noted, expressing optimism that the expo would strengthen the national beauty industry ecosystem while opening broader market opportunities.

Comprehensive Educational and Networking Programming

IndoBeauty Expo 2025 featured an extensive agenda of educational and professional development activities, including seminars, workshops, and panel discussions designed to address current industry concerns and emerging trends.

The programming specifically tackled the crucial topic of halal certification through sessions titled “Claim VS Over Claim? Halal 2026?” and “2026 Wajib Halal: Strategi Praktis untuk Industri Kosmetika” (2026 Mandatory Halal: Practical Strategies for the Cosmetics Industry), helping companies prepare for upcoming regulatory requirements.

Additional sessions covered diverse topics ranging from oral health considerations in beauty products (“The Importance of Caries Prevention for Children’s Growth and Development”) to practical beauty applications (“3-Minute Commute Makeup Tutorial” and “Showty Glam the Stage”).

Business Matching Initiatives Drive Commercial Partnerships

A standout feature of the 2025 exhibition was its dedicated Business Matching program, developed through collaboration between Krista Exhibitions and APRINDO (Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association). This initiative was specifically designed to facilitate connections between beauty brands and retail operators, potentially creating new distribution channels and market access opportunities.

The business matching sessions aimed to bridge the gap between product manufacturers and retail partners, supporting the growth of both established brands and emerging companies seeking market entry or expansion.

Strong Government and Industry Support

The expo benefited from comprehensive backing across multiple sectors, with support from key government ministries including the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, and Ministry of Tourism. Industry associations including PPAK Indonesia, APSKI, and APRINDO also provided endorsement and participation, demonstrating unified support for the event’s objectives.

This multi-stakeholder approach reflects the recognition that Indonesia’s beauty industry growth requires coordinated efforts across government policy, industry standards, and commercial development.

Positioning for Global Halal Cosmetics Leadership

Looking ahead, IndoBeauty Expo 2025 aimed to strengthen Indonesia’s competitive position in the international cosmetics market, with particular emphasis on the halal beauty segment. As global demand for halal-certified products continues to expand, Indonesia’s large Muslim population and growing manufacturing capabilities position the country as a potential leader in this specialized market.

The timing proves particularly strategic, as companies prepare for the 2026 halal certification requirements while simultaneously seeking to capitalize on growing international interest in Indonesian beauty products and innovations.

The exhibition’s focus on halal compliance and international partnerships suggests Indonesia’s beauty industry is positioning itself not just for domestic growth, but for significant expansion into global markets where halal certification provides competitive advantages.

Through events like IndoBeauty Expo 2025, Indonesia continues building the infrastructure, relationships, and expertise necessary to transform its beauty sector from a primarily domestic industry into a significant force in international cosmetics markets.
