JAKARTA – Saudi Arabia has announced plans to construct the Hexagon Data Center, a monumental facility designed to be the largest and most advanced Tier VI data center globally. With a massive planned capacity of 480 MW and sprawling over an area exceeding 2.8 million square meters, this project marks a significant leap in the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure ambitions.

The main contractor, AlBawani, is tasked with building this technological powerhouse, which is central to Saudi Arabia’s strategy of leveraging advanced technology to drive national development. The data center’s design incorporates a suite of innovative solutions to maximize energy efficiency, including direct liquid cooling and intelligent hybrid cooling systems.

A key feature of the Hexagon Data Center is its commitment to sustainability. It will integrate renewable energy sources and is being constructed to meet the stringent LEED Gold certification standards, positioning it to become the world’s largest green data center upon completion.

AlBawani has emphasized that the facility will provide world-class infrastructure to boost government operational efficiency, generate sustainable economic value, and support the rapid expansion of the nation’s digital ecosystem. Once operational, Hexagon is expected to play a pivotal role in accelerating Saudi Arabia’s transformation in critical areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, and next-generation government services.
