Hansaplast Reinforces Halal Certification Commitment for Health Products

JAKARTA – Hansaplast, a leading wound care brand under Beiersdorf Indonesia, has reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining halal standards across all health products marketed in Indonesia. This commitment aligns with growing public awareness regarding ingredient transparency, manufacturing processes, and compliance with halal regulations.

Long-Standing Commitment to Quality and Safety

Abisekh Badodeka, Director of Beiersdorf Indonesia, emphasized that Hansaplast has held halal certification for many years, demonstrating the company’s consistent approach to product quality and safety.

“We have maintained halal certification for a considerable time. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to preserving quality, safety, and consumer trust in Hansaplast products,” stated Badodeka on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Why Halal Certification Matters for Health Products

The director explained that halal certification is particularly crucial for health products, given their direct application to skin and open wounds. Therefore, transparency in ingredients and manufacturing processes is non-negotiable.

According to Badodeka, certain health products may potentially contain animal-derived ingredients, such as gelatin, which could originate from pork or cattle. This situation necessitates clear verification of ingredient sources and processing methods to ensure compliance with established halal standards.

Government Mandate and Global Recognition

The government has emphasized that halal certification is mandatory for specific products, including health items. This was affirmed by Dr. H. Abd. Syakur, S.Ag., M.Si., Deputy for Partnership and Halal Standardization at the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH).

“Halal certification is mandatory for all relevant companies and must be completed by October 2026 at the latest. The Indonesian Halal Logo is now recognized by approximately 30 countries, and we are ready to facilitate expedited halal certification registration, including for health products,” Syakur stated.

He added that international recognition of the Indonesian Halal Logo opens broader opportunities for national products to compete in global markets, particularly in countries with strict regulations regarding animal-derived ingredients.

Symbolic Recognition in Malang

The reaffirmation of halal certification commitment was marked by a plaque presentation ceremony at Beiersdorf Indonesia’s production facility in Malang Regency, symbolizing the company’s dedication to meeting both regulatory requirements and consumer expectations.

Moving Forward with Transparency

With increasing consumer awareness and mandatory halal certification requirements, the health product industry is expected to become more transparent and accountable. Halal certification represents not merely regulatory compliance but also the industry’s commitment to providing safety and comfort to the community.

This development reflects a broader trend in Indonesia’s health and wellness sector, where companies are recognizing that halal certification is essential for building consumer trust and accessing both domestic and international markets.
