Kawaguchiko, Japan – Indonesian businesses are preparing to make a significant presence at the upcoming Tripoli International Fair 2025, scheduled for April 22-28, as part of growing trade initiatives between Indonesia and Libya.
According to Dede Achmad Rifai, Charge d’Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in Tripoli, seven Indonesian companies have confirmed their participation, representing diverse sectors including furniture, packaged food and beverages, herbal medicine, and Muslim clothing for all ages. The exhibition will also feature Indonesian products already established in the Libyan market, alongside cultural arts and tourism presentations.
The announcement came during a Ramadan iftar hosted by Rifai for Libyan entrepreneurs on March 23. Notable attendees included Mohamad Raeed, Chairman of the Libyan Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Anwar Abu Sitta, Chairman of the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Islam Ja’far, Director of the Tripoli International Fair.
Indonesia’s trade strategy extends beyond the Tripoli Fair, with plans for the Indonesian Halal Product Exhibition (Halal Indo) in September 2025 and Trade Expo Indonesia in October 2025. Halal Indo will showcase a comprehensive range of certified halal products including Muslim clothing, food and beverages, cosmetics, and more.
Trade relations between the two nations have been strengthening steadily. In 2024, 30 Libyan entrepreneurs attended the Trade Expo Indonesia, resulting in several significant trade agreements. A notable deal was struck between Fly Oya and PT Dirgantara Indonesia for the lease and purchase of four Indonesian-manufactured aircraft.
Indonesian products have been gaining popularity among Libyan consumers, with demand growing for diverse items including paper products, footwear, packaged foods and beverages, cleaning supplies, automobiles, tires, motorcycles, perfumes, adhesives, palm oil, and furniture.
These events highlight Indonesia’s commitment to expanding its economic footprint in Libya through its growing portfolio of halal products and services.
