Strengthening Indonesia’s Halal Product Exports: A Strategic Partnership Between the Ministry of Creative Economy and HIPMI-HCI
Minister and Entrepreneurs Join Forces
In Jakarta, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya met with the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association – Culinary Indonesia (HIPMI-HCI) to explore ways to enhance the culinary sector and increase exports of halal products. This collaboration aims to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global halal market, which is vital for boosting the national economy.
The Importance of Collaboration
Minister Harsya emphasized that working together with HIPMI is essential for elevating the export of Indonesian halal products.
He stated, “This partnership is crucial for increasing our presence in the global market and, in turn, enhancing our national economy.”
The collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for Indonesian brands and promote the rich culinary heritage of the country.
HCI’s Role in the Culinary Landscape
HIPMI-HCI is a specialized branch of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association that focuses on the culinary industry. With 843 local brands as members, HCI aims to foster discussions, inspire partnerships, and provide a platform for culinary stakeholders to innovate and promote Indonesian cuisine worldwide. Their mission aligns with the broader goals of the creative economy sector, which aims to contribute 8.37% to the national GDP by 2029, with an export growth target of 5.96%.
Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises
A key focus of the collaboration will be empowering small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the culinary sector. By supporting these businesses, the partnership hopes to expand the reach of Indonesian brands on a global scale. This empowerment is crucial for helping local entrepreneurs grow and succeed in international markets.
Opportunities for Growth
Cikhita Sebayang, the chair of HCI, highlighted the meeting with the minister as a significant opportunity for food and beverage (F&B) entrepreneurs. She expressed optimism that this collaboration would help them transition from small-scale operations to larger enterprises capable of competing internationally.
“This is a chance for Indonesian F&B entrepreneurs to thrive on the global stage,” she noted.
A Vision for Global Recognition
Sebayang also emphasized the importance of quickly implementing programs that will elevate local intellectual property (IP) to global recognition. By doing so, Indonesian halal cuisine can enhance its competitiveness in the international market. The collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy and HCI is poised to create a brighter future for Indonesia’s culinary industry, paving the way for greater success and recognition worldwide.
