BPJPH Chief Emphasizes Long-term Vision at International Forum

Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), outlined the broader vision for this cooperation during remarks in Jakarta on August 25, 2025. He emphasized that the partnership represents more than simple trade relationships, focusing instead on building sustainable foundations for future halal industry development.

“Halal cooperation between Indonesia and Korea is not just about commerce. It’s about building trust and paving the way for future generations to live within a modern, inclusive halal ecosystem” Haikal explained, highlighting the partnership’s comprehensive scope.

International Halal Seminar Brings Together Regional Leaders

Indonesia’s participation in the International Halal Seminar 2025 and the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF) in Seoul marked a significant milestone in strengthening halal diplomacy between the nations. The event, held recently in South Korea’s capital, served as a platform for advancing bilateral cooperation.

The seminar attracted prominent halal industry leaders and institutional representatives from across the region, including KMF President Hussein Kim Dong Eok, OIC/SMIIC Secretary General Ihsan Ovut from Turkey, Deputy Director of JAKIM Malaysia Mohamad Kori Bin Jusoh, Winai Dahlan from Thailand’s Halal Science Center at Chulalongkorn University, and Lee Hyun Sung from the Korea Food Research Institute.

Government officials, academic researchers, and halal industry stakeholders from various countries participated in the discussions, creating a comprehensive dialogue on regional halal development strategies.

Indonesia Presents Policy Updates and Future Opportunities

During the international seminar, Haikal delivered presentations on Indonesia’s current halal policies while exploring potential areas for enhanced bilateral cooperation. He stressed the importance of strengthening connections between Indonesia and South Korea to maximize economic opportunities within the halal industry through mutually advantageous initiatives.

The Indonesian delegation used the platform to showcase the country’s halal certification framework and discuss how both nations could collaborate more effectively in developing halal product standards and market access.

At the Korea Muslim Federation’s 70th anniversary celebration, Haikal outlined several key areas where Indonesia and South Korea could deepen their collaboration. These priority areas include developing enhanced halal product assurance quality standards, establishing comprehensive training programs for halal auditors, supervisors, and slaughterers, and facilitating expanded halal product exports from Indonesia to the South Korean market.
