In a significant development for the Russian food industry, Health & Nutrition (H&N), which encompasses the former Russian assets of Danone, has proudly announced the receipt of its inaugural halal certification. This achievement paves the way for H&N to expand its market reach into the lucrative Persian Gulf region, a move that could greatly enhance its export potential.
Certification Details and Product Range
The halal certification was awarded specifically for products manufactured at the Yalutorovsky Dairy Plant, located in the Tyumen region. The certified offerings include a variety of dairy products such as ultra-pasteurized milk, cream, and cottage cheese, all marketed under the well-known Prostokvashino brand, along with powdered milk. This certification is not merely a formality; it is essential for H&N to access export markets in Gulf countries, ensuring that their production processes and ingredients align with the GSO 2055-1:2015 standard, which governs halal food products.
Collaboration with Certification Experts
The certification process was conducted by Gulftik-ICSC Halal, a reputable organization established by the Halal International Center for Standardization and Certification in collaboration with the GulfTIC certification body from the UAE. H&N’s CEO, Yakub Zakriyev, highlighted the significance of this certification, stating that it not only facilitates export opportunities but also affirms the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in its products.
Establishing a Robust Compliance Framework
Zakriyev further elaborated on the company’s efforts to create a systematic approach for assessing halal compliance across its operations. “Through our dedicated work, we have developed a process to evaluate our products and facilities against halal requirements, which will enable us to efficiently manage certification tasks at our other plants,” he remarked. This proactive strategy underscores H&N’s commitment to expanding its halal product line and ensuring compliance with international standards.
The halal certification is valid for three years, with annual renewals contingent upon thorough on-site inspections. Notably, the Yalutorovsky Dairy Plant stands out as the first facility in the Tyumen region to receive this prestigious certification from Gulftik-ICSC Halal, marking a significant milestone in the region’s food production landscape.
A Bright Future Ahead
With the halal certification in hand, H&N is poised to tap into the growing demand for halal products in the Gulf markets. This strategic move not only enhances the company’s export capabilities but also positions it as a key player in the expanding global halal food sector. As the halal market continues to flourish, H&N’s commitment to quality and compliance will undoubtedly play a crucial role in its future success.
