Kawaguchiko, Japan – Thailand is set to strengthen its position as a gateway for Asian halal products to reach the global Muslim community with the launch of MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2025, scheduled for July 16-18 at the BITEC Bangna Exhibition and Convention Center.

The exhibition, organized by ComAsia Co., Ltd. and Worldex G.E.C. Co., Ltd. in collaboration with the Islamic Committee of Thailand, represents Thailand’s first major halal-focused trade event. It will run concurrently with MEGA Show Bangkok 2025, creating a comprehensive platform for businesses targeting the growing halal market.

Tapping into a Significant Market

With the global halal market valued at approximately 2,247 million US dollars in 2023-2024 and serving more than 2 billion Muslims worldwide, the exhibition aims to capitalize on Thailand’s strategic position in Southeast Asia. According to organizers, the halal demographic largely consists of younger consumers representing an important emerging market with diverse product demands and substantial business potential.

During the press conference announcing the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismael Ali, Chairman of Halal Affairs at The Central Islamic Council of Thailand, emphasized that halal extends beyond food consumption to encompass all aspects of Muslim life, maintaining purity according to Islamic teachings.

Comprehensive Showcase of Halal Products

Mr. Nikom Lertmallikaporn, Chairman of the Executive Board of Worldex G.E.C. Co., Ltd., revealed that MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2025 will showcase carefully selected products from over 15,000 vendors, manufacturers, and distributors with halal certifications. The exhibition will feature approximately 400-500 companies from 10 countries across diverse industries including:

  • Fashion clothing and footwear
  • Food and beverages (including dry foods and snacks)
  • Beauty, wellness, and health products (cosmetics, perfumes, spas, supplements)
  • Tourism packages (accommodation, entertainment, souvenirs)

“MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2025 will be an annual grand event, with this year being its first edition in Thailand. We can guarantee that attendees, including international buyers, will book no less than 5,000 hotel rooms, as the halal or Muslim market is currently receiving significant global attention,” said Lertmallikaporn.

Thailand’s Growing Halal Industry

The exhibition highlights Thailand’s significant progress in the halal sector. According to the latest data from the Islamic Committee of Thailand, there are currently:

  • 7,085 Thai operators certified with halal marks
  • 4,467 manufacturing facilities
  • 17,134 trademarks
  • 19,580 total products

Panel discussions during the press conference covered various topics including opportunities for Thai halal products in global markets, innovations in halal business, and Thailand’s potential as Asia’s halal center.

Strategic Geographic Advantage

Dr. Sarawut Ari, Director of Muslim Studies Center at Chulalongkorn University, highlighted Thailand’s strategic position as a potential Asian halal hub. He noted that Thailand’s northern region serves as a land route connecting to countries with large Muslim populations including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India—with India alone having over 200 million Muslims.

Financial Support for the Sector

Financial institutions are also supporting the growth of this sector. Representatives from EXIM Bank discussed their support for Thai SMEs through knowledge enhancement, funding opportunities, and tools for managing international trade risks. The Islamic Bank of Thailand, ranked 69th among 240 Islamic banks worldwide, provides access to halal capital—money obtained through proper means—for production.

The inaugural MEGA HALAL Bangkok 2025 aims to reinforce Thailand’s position as a global halal center while promoting sustainable business opportunities in the country’s halal industry for future expansion into global markets.
