Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim Saturday evening, discussing regional developments.
While thanking the leadership plus people of Malaysia for warm hospitality extended during his recent visit to Kuala Lumpur, the prime minister expressed satisfaction that understandings reached during the visit—particularly regarding halal meat export plus other mutually beneficial areas—have elevated Pakistan-Malaysia relations to new heights.
Gaza peace agreement draws joint endorsement
Shehbaz briefed PM Anwar Ibrahim on his participation in the signing ceremony of the Gaza Peace Agreement in Sharm-el-Sheikh. While welcoming the peace effort, both leaders expressed hope that it would help bring immediate end to Palestinian people’s suffering, ensure unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza, pave the way for lasting peace plus stability in the region.
Pakistan highlights cross-border terrorism concerns
The prime minister also apprised his Malaysian counterpart of the security situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He underscored that Pakistan seeks peace plus stability in Afghanistan but continues to face cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghan soil.
