Strategic Partnership for Global Halal Market Development

The world’s premier food and beverage trade fair, Anuga, has partnered with the Islamic Chamber Halal Services (ICHS), a leading global organization promoting halal sector growth, to launch an innovative conference format. This collaboration introduces the first-ever Anuga Halal Forum as part of Anuga 2025, creating a specialized platform for halal-focused business discussions and industry development.

Forum Details and Accessibility

The inaugural conference, themed “Halal Food: A Global Gateway to Growth” is scheduled for October 6, 2025, running from 10:20 a.m. to 4:25 p.m. The event will take place in the Konrad Adenauer Hall within the Congress Center North. Registration information will be made available through the ICHS website in the near future.

All Anuga attendees can participate in the Halal Forum without additional cost, making this valuable industry resource accessible to the entire trade fair audience.

Target Audience and Objectives

The forum addresses a diverse range of industry stakeholders, including halal food manufacturers and export companies, international import businesses and retail organizations, investment firms and trade development agencies, certification organizations and regulatory bodies, as well as government representatives from the global halal ecosystem.

The platform emphasizes three primary objectives: facilitating specialized knowledge transfer, enabling cross-industry experience sharing, and creating opportunities for new business development within the halal sector.

The high-level program incorporates multiple engagement formats including keynote presentations from industry leaders, interactive panel discussions, specialized masterclass sessions, and featured keynote addresses.

Industry Leadership Perspectives

Jan Philipp Hartmann, Director of Anuga, emphasized the forum’s strategic value, describing it as a logical and particularly valuable addition to our program. He highlighted the unique opportunity it provides for attendees to acquire knowledge, expand professional networks, and identify new business possibilities.

Yousef Hassan Khalawi, Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, positioned the forum launch as a significant milestone in elevating halal’s role within the global food industry. He characterized the partnership as representing more than just collaboration but rather a shared commitment to building a global halal ecosystem based on trust, innovation, and opportunity.

Market Growth Data

Research from Innova Market Insights, Anuga’s knowledge partner, reveals significant growth patterns in the halal market segment. Asia leads with over 55% of halal product innovations in 2024, followed by Africa with 21% of market innovations. Overall new product launches increased approximately 10% over the past five years.

Several product categories demonstrated particularly strong expansion, with baked goods showing 15% growth, sauces and seasonings at 13% growth, snack products at 11% growth, and dairy products at 9% growth.

Certain specialized segments achieved exceptional growth rates, with confectionery products and poultry products both reaching up to 17% average annual growth between 2020 and 2024.

Industry Impact

The partnership between Anuga and ICHS represents more than event organization—it aims to influence the future direction of halal trade and establish leadership standards on the international stage. This initiative reflects the growing recognition of the halal market’s economic significance and potential for continued expansion.

The forum’s emphasis on trust, innovation, and opportunity aligns with broader industry trends toward creating sustainable, ethical, and inclusive business environments that serve diverse global markets while maintaining religious and cultural authenticity.
